This is an antique Bamana People tribally hand carved Sogo Bo bush animal puppet mask which is possibly of a hyena. This Bamana bush animal puppet was collected from Mali, Africa. This fine Bamana masquerade puppet mask is made of two pieces of wood which has been painted and the mouth does open and close. This antique Bamana puppet mask measures 18 inches long by 7.50 inches wide. This antique Bamana bush animal carving is in great overall condition with some wear and which was used / danced in masquerade performances called Sogo Bo.
