Orientalist, writer, film producer, painter and sculptor, man of action as well as philosopher and man of science, FRANCIS BRUNEL has been a passionate lover of India since his childhood.
He visited India for the first time in 1935-36, travelling extensively at the discovery of this great country, through Rajasthan up to the Himalayas and the Roof of the World. This was for him a real pilgrimage to the very sources of Wisdom and Beauty.
In 1944. he was appointed as the first Delegate of France at New Delhi. In this capacity, he witnessed h march of India towards independence, in personal and direct touch with the great freedom fighters and leaders, establishing the first links of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Since that time, he comes back regularly to India to pursue an endless discovery.
In 1978, he created in the South of France, at Les Baux de Provence, a prodigious Light and Sound show. «Eternal India», presenting in a fantastic way - and for the first time in the world - ail the wonders of India, covering 5,000 square metres of rock surfaces, on 10, 15 or 20 metres of height, inside huge mountain caves and quarries.
Through his films, he has revealed India in all her splendour and glory.
