PROGRAMS, TICKETS AND NEWSPAPER COVERAGE OF THE GAME:

Souvenirs from the following games with ticket(s) and newspaper coverage of the game, some also with the program as indicated.

For some the newspaper clippings are neatly glued on scrapbook pages.  It is possible to remove them from the scrapbook since I have managed to with some but it’s a bit of work and no guarantee you can.   On the other hand, they look great the way they are.  The only reason I removed a couple was because there was clippings from another event on the reverse page.  The tickets for those have a bit of clear plastic tape on the ends.

***Two 1960’s B.C. Lions Vancouver Sun GREY CUP Glasses. 

During the 1960's and into the 1970's the Vancouver Sun Newspaper periodically issued commemorative drinking glasses that featured the front page headline of their newspaper.  These were often sports but also at times included other huge news making events.  These two 5" high glasses are of the 1963 and 1964 CFL Grey Cup Championships involving the B.C. Lions.  Each features what would have been approx. 1/2 of the front page so some of the write ups on the games and other news is readable on the glasses.   Both are in ex/mint to mint condition which is remarkable for their age. 

1.  Nov. 30, 1963.  Headline is "OH NUTS" as the Lions lost the Grey Cup to the Hamilton Tiger Cats

2.  Nov. 30, 1964.  Headline is "NEVER A DOUBT" with "Love Those Lions" above that.  The Lions won the Grey Cup over Hamilton.

6.  Nov. 23, 1981 special section of the Edmonton Sun on the Eskimos winning their 4th consecutive Grey Cup.  66 pages devoted to them and it covers each game of the season as well as the playoffs.   The back is a full page color photo of Dave Cutler and Tom Wilkinson.  The section measures 11 1/4" x 14 3/4".

7.  Nov. 20, 1981 special sections of the Edmonton Journal.   Each measures 15 3/4" x  23" and come folded across the middle.   Three separate sections devoted to the team history, the 1981 season and the upcoming Grey Cup game.  Section one is 16 pages.  Section two is 8 pages, section 3 is 16 pages.

8.  Warren Moon special edition newspaper photo.  Great rare collectible for the Warren Moon fan.   Moon is the only player inducted in both the CFL and NFL hall of fames.  Giant full page of the Edmonton Journal newspaper, Sept. 1, 1981. It is actually more like a poster rather than a photo.  It measures 15 1/2" x  23 1/4" and comes folded across the middle.  I believe this was from a series of player photos the newspaper ran on a weekly basis.  It is in excellent condition with a little wear on the edges.

***Calgary Stampeders Homecoming  lapel pin in ex/mint condition. 

***1983 B. C. Lions Mohawk Card set.  Complete set of 24 cards in ex/mint condition.  Includes:  Lui Passaglia, Roy Dewalt, Mervyn Fernandez, Joe Paopao, Glenn Jackson, etc.  

***1984 Ottawa Rough Riders Jogo McDonalds Set in Panels.  Complete set of 12 cards in 4 panels of 3 cards each.  There are perforations for separating but these are not separated.  Includes:  J. C. Watts, Jim Reid, Skip Walker, Tyron Grey, etc.  All are ex.

***1980’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers old logo lapel pin, ex/mint.

***1978 B.C. Lions Royal Bank Royal Leaders Photos.  Hard to find Royal Leaders photos issued by Royal Banks in the Vancouver and surrounding areas.  This is 9 different, missing only three for the set.  Includes Jim Young, Jerry Tagge, Alan Wilson, etc.  All are in ex. or better condition.

***1984 B. C. Lions "Lion Tracks" News. Vol. 1, #1 & #2

VERY RARE items for the CFL and/or B.C. Lions collector.   These are kind of like a paper press guide.  Each measures 4" x 8 1/2" folded and open up to 8 1/2" x 12".   So folded they are 6 pages.  This is the very first two of these, volume 1 #1 and volume 1 #2, March and May 1984.  They contain various info. on the team and staff.  One has the roster as well, and the other includes the team schedule.  They are in ex. condition.   There can't be many of these in existence since they were free at the time and obviously meant to be read and thrown away.

***Two 1983 Sportrait Photos.  Extremely hard to find full page photos from the TV Times magazine, a weekly TV guide type issued in/with the Vancouver Sun newspaper.  They were all from between Sept. 2 1983 and Feb. 24, 1984.   Each photo measures approx. 8 1/8" x 10 3/4".   These featured local athletes from various sports, mostly Canucks, Lions, Whitecaps, etc.  There were two B.C. Lions:  Glen Jackson and Tony Dennis.

***Three 1982 Team Media Guide/Yearbooks. These include player photos and profiles, stats,  results, records, etc.  Ottawa Rough Rides, Toronto Argonauts and Calgary Stampeders.
