Description

Banded Agate is a variety of Chalcedony, characterized by coloured stripey patterns and is also known as riband agate and striped Agate. The patterns occur when Agate fills veins or cracks in volcanic or altered rock. Such Agates, when cut transversely, show a succession of parallel lines that give a banded appearance to the bead.
