Offered is a beautifully designed and intricately detailed set of

Richard the Lionheart and the
Crusades to the Holy Lands Chess Set

As with all of our chess sets, this is a complete 32 Piece set.
We don't show all of the pieces in the picture because then
it gets too crowded and you can not see the magnificent detail.

On the Crusader side the King is King Richard I the Lionheart
the Queen is Richard's wife Queen Berengaria of Navarre
the Bishops are Pope Gregory VIII
and the Knights and Pawns are the Knights Templars

On the Saracen side the King is Sultan Saladin
the Queen is one of Saladin's many wives,
the Bishops are a Caliph
and the Knights and Pawns are Saracens.

Beautifully cast in polyresin with 3 1/4" kings
and then painstakingly hand painted
in the authentic clothing of the era.
With 1" bases this set will fit a standard 12" x 12" board.

Join our Great(X20) Uncle, the original Richard the Lionheart
on the Third Crusades to avenge the loss at Hattin
and to free Jerusalem from the Saracen leader Saladin.

And try to avoid the Austrians this time.
You know what that cost you.

The Crusades was not a single event.
Beginning in 1095 and continuing for some 200 years there were
a total of at least 8 crusades with long periods of inactivity between them.

"Fun" and "Learning"
do not have to be mutually exclusive.

This is such a beautiful set that, even when you are not playing,
it deserves to be left out just to show the world

This set is brand new and has never been used
and comes with a molded foam tray with individual slots for each piece
which then slides into a full decorated fitted box.
