Variegated Chinese Aralia

Here are some seeds of the exotic Aralia elata ‘Variegata’, which is a very tropical looking large shrub or small tree.  This plant is considered fully hardy to USDA zone 4.   These plants prefer partial shade to protect the variegation.  Chinese Aralia is particularly exotic because the leaves are variegated with white, and they are very complex and HUGE!  Each leaf looks like many smaller leaves, but it is just one large compound leaf.  Then in summer these plants get large clusters of many small white flowers, which makes quite a showy display.  These plants can reach heights of 25+ feet tall, but can be maintained smaller if necessary.  As with many of the unusual varieties of seeds that I offer, there is often a great degree of variability in the outcome of the seedlings, and you may get plain green seedlings, or nice variegated ones.  There is no way to tell which seeds will produce the variegated plants, but this is a good opportunity to try to get a variegated seedling for yourself, as buying a variegated plant of this species can be very expensive.
