This is a new style brake pedal assembly with 7" Dual CHROME Brake Booster CHROME Ball Milled Master Cylinder and Chrome Disc/Drum Proportioning Valve Kit. This pedal assembly mounts up on your firewall and the pedal arm hangs down into the car. But the best part is, it mounts the booster and master cylinder 90 degrees to the side so they don't stick out into the engine compartment. A lot of custom builds have no space left in the engine compartment, so a booster sticking out is not an option. But if you've got space under the dash, then this is the perfect fix! Also a great alternative to the under floor kits that mess up your floor board and can get in the way of exhaust and transmission/motor mounts.
This kit includes a brand new 7" dual diaphragm brake booster with new master cylinder. This 7" Dual diaphragm booster offers 19% better stopping power over the single 7" booster, and is ideal for most small to mid size street rods and customs. The booster mounts with a 4-bolt pattern. The 4 bolts are in a perfect square and are 3 3/8" apart (center to center). The master cylinder is an equal reservoir setup.
The master cylinder in this kit is also all chrome. It is the Center Ball Milled style, and features a 1" bore and the ports measure 9/16" and 1/2". This master cylinder will work with any drum/drum, disc/drum, or disc/disc setup. THIS SETUP IS DESIGNED FOR DISC/DRUM APPLICATIONS.
This includes a disc/drum proportioning valve kit (self adjusting valve and bracket to mount kit to the side of the master cylinder).
The proportioning valve has a great CHROME finish. This valve is also call a combination valve, as it performs all of the necessary valving functions with a disc brake conversion. These functions include the following:
As more force is applied to the brakes and the car begins to lean forward, less braking force is needed in the rear. This valve decreases the pressure to the rear, preventing lock up.
Metering is used in the front disk brake portion in the disc/drum system to delay application of the front discs allowing the slower reacting drum brakes to catch up. This provides rear stability on wet surfaces and helps prevent front pad wear. There is no metering function with the disc/disc setup.
Drum Brakes require residual pressure of 10 lbs. to be held in the line. This pressure keeps the brake shoes close to the drums giving you a more firm pedal feel. The disc/disc setup does not require this pressure.
This valve has a system failure switch that will alert you when half of your braking system is not working properly.
The pedal includes a weld on tab with a threaded hole for the brake pad. Once you have the pedal arm where you want it, weld on the tab for the brake pad.
