Here's the easy time-tested solution ... 
just slip our ring size adjusters inside a ring
bend tabs, adjust, ring is smaller
won't pinch skin or clothing

Directions are simple!Lay the long edge of the ring guard across the bottom of the ring (ring shank facing the ceiling)Carefully and securely bend one end of the ring guard around the ring shank,

 repeat with the other prong

Once on the ring, each ring guard can be adjusted to size your ring down
from a 1/8th of a finger size down to 1 1/2 sizes smaller

Ladies Size: Will fit a 1.75 mm up to a 2.5 mm wide band, and for rings size 5.5 or larger; width is 1.60 mm
Gents Size: Will fit a 2.5 mm up to a 2.70 mm  wide band, and for ring sizes 8 and larger; width is 2.45 mm
Giant Size: Will fit a 2.70 mm up to a 4.50 mm wide band, and for rings sizes 10 and larger; width is 2.60 mm
