Lucy Dawson aka "Mac" was noted for her dog paintings and etchings in pencil, pen, ink and oil, although possibly best know for her work in pastels. British born, she lived in Bristol until around 1930, when after the death of her husband she moved to London. Some time during the war years she moved to Hertfordshire where she later died just short of her 80th birthday.

She enjoyed many commissions, one of her most famous being for the Royal Family who commissioned a picture of one of their favourite corgis "Dookie". The painting was later used as a family Christmas card by the Royals.
