Brilliant and highly rated second Willowglass album with instrumental symphonic rock

With “Book of Hours” Willowglass from England has released a top album in the genre of instrumental progressive rock in 2008 which also got high ratings on  internet music sites. Willowglass is the project of the very versed multi-instrumentalist Andrew Marshall who plays synthesizer, mellotron, organ, piano, acoustic and electric guitar, flute, recorder and drums. Dave Brightman contributes further drums on this album.

“Book of Hours” is a splendid conceptual album throughout, with magnificent compositions, very melodic and versatile and a great and full sound, including a powerful bass. The CD has a running time of 50 minutes and contains three complex long tracks from 10 to 17 minutes and several bombastic keyboard and guitar passages and strong mellotron sounds. The production and recording quality is excellent. The musical style contains many references to Genesis, Camel, IQ and Anthony Phillips. The album contains a well designed 16 page booklet with wonderful artwork.

Mit “Book of Hours” hat Willowglass aus England 2008 ein Top-Album im Genre instrumentellen progressiven Rocks herausgebracht, das auch hohe Bewertungen auf Internet-Musikseiten erhalten hat. Willowglass ist das Projekt des sehr versierten Multi-Instrumentalisten Andrew Marshall, der  Synthesizer, Mellotron, Orgel, Piano, akkustische und elektrische Gitarre, Flöte, Recorder und Schlagzeug spielt. Dave Brightman steuert weiteres Schlagzeug bei.

“Book of Hours” ist ein durchweg sehr gelungenes Konzeptalbum mit tollen Kompositionen, sehr melodisch und abwechslungsreich und einem hervorragenden und vollem Sound, inkl. einem kräftigen Bass. Die CD enthält u.a. drei komplexe Longtracks mit über 10 bis 17 Minuten Spieldauer und mehreren bombastischen Keyboard- und Gitarrenpassagen und tollen Mellotron-Sounds. Die Produktion und Aufnahmequalität ist hervorragend. Der musikalische Stil enthält viele Anklänge an  Genesis, Camel, IQ und Anthony Phillips. Das Album enthält ein sehr schön gestaltetes 16-seitiges Booklet.

Ich kann dieses Album allen Freunden symphonischen Rocks nur wärmstens empfehlen.
