Installation Instructions

 Your Garmin GPS may have shipped with either a two pin or a three pin connector on the original battery.  Garmin shipped approximately equal amounts of each type.  Rather than having two skus and a confusing order process, we decided to ship ours with a three pin connector.  If your GPS requires a two pin connector, this will require a simple modification of the new battery use it:  you just need to swap the connectors.  Here’s how:

 

1. Cut all the wires on the new battery and old battery about half way up.  Leave enough room on both sides to splice the wires.

2. Bare the wires, either with a wire stripper, or even with scissors or anything else.  Don’t hurt your teeth J

3. When you swap from the three pin to the two pin connector, you will be leaving the yellow wire disconnected.  For three pin versions, the yellow wire delivers battery data, but it is not necessary on two pin versions.

4.  Splice red to red and black to black. 

5.  Cover the bare wire you spliced, ideally with electrical tape, but if that is not available, with something else to ensure that the positive and negative wires do not short.  

6. Plug the new battery into your GPS, charge it, and you are ready to go.
