Deep Purple star and composer Jon Lord first performed his groundbreaking classical-rock fusion, 'Concerto for Group and Orchestra' in 1969 at the Royal Albert Hall. The piece has been recorded in the studio for the first time, performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Paul Mann, was recorded in Liverpool and at London's famous Abbey Road studios. Before he died in July, Lord said he was excited to hear a definitive version of his amazing piece: "I’ve been honing the piece live on stage, and I’ve had the opportunity to change things in the score that weren’t sounding quite right. It is therefore a marvellous and exciting prospect to have the definitive recording of the definitive version of the score."
