The beautiful and incredibly constructed 'Glass Sponge' or 'Venus Flower Basket'. You will receive one of these seemingly delicate (but quite robust) sponges and it may either be straight or slightly curved -. please allow for slight natural variations. Sizes approx. 8" to 9" (20cm to 23cm).

It is a popular wedding gift in the far east - because occasionally free-swimming young small prawn like crustaceans get entrapped inside the sponge, grow, then mate and the produced eggs hatch and swim out via the small openings to repeat the process elsewhere, leaving the parents to end their days trapped inside !!  I occasionally have a few to offer with the prawn remains inside - see elsewhere in my Ebay shop for these!
