Robert E. Peary (1856-1920).  He was an American explorer and United States Navy officer who made several expeditions to the Arctic in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is best known for claiming to have reached the geographic North Pole with his expedition on April 6, 1909.  His signature on an historic autograph letter signed, dated August 12, 1898, during his third Arctic expedition (1898-1902) and mailed from Etah, Greenland.  The content of the letter has to do with stock transactions.  The letter has suffered significant damage in the distant past and was attached to a backing sheet with tape that caused staining.  There is some paper loss affecting a number of words.  This letter is the only Peary letter that I have ever seen in 34 years as an autograph dealer that originated during one of his historic Arctic missions.  UACC Registered Dealer # 036, Pages of History, provides a lifetime guarantee of authenticity.  We are full time autograph and document dealers and members of the Manuscript Society.  Payments must be by Pay Pal.   We will combine shipping on multiple purchases.
