1940s Waterman Pen, attractive working pen, but not a mint pen, some wear and honest use showing, User Grade & VERY functional - Great Color, the color is semi translucent Burgundy as shown w/ Gold filled Trim, the pen has no warp, no engraving, the trim ring is tight, Very Sturdy & nicely art deco styled pocket clip - The lever box is sturdy & stress free. The filling mechanism works perfectly with a recent ink sac installed- The cap is a threaded cap and it fits on very well and posts perfectly - Pen is ready to ink up & write :-)

The pen is a full 6 & 1/8" posted and 5 & 1/8" capped. Very good size for writing. - The factory imprint is worn, but readable.

Problems are, the gold filled trim has significant brassing, all of it, it polishes up well as I have done, but it will tarnish again in time, but the gold layer is worn through to the brass quite a bit (this can be seen in some of the close up photos)- the cap band has a couple dings, Also there is one odd crack at the end of the pen, hard to see unless you look for it in the light , this can be seen in photo #7, this crack seams stable - other than this , the pen is straight, bright, no warp, And a working , writing pen :-)

Very nice larger "WATERMAN'S" #5 nib, 14ct , clean & straight factory nib, (please see the close up photos of the nib) a nice fine point - with very good iridium, a nice writing Fine point with a light hand on Rhodia paper, some tooth w/ pressure , a little more feedback on cheap paper, a very good performer. Good ink flow, NOT VERY FLEX - it is Semi flex with very some line variation, going from X-Fine to approx 0.9 mm Max, When you want some line variation, it goes from a fine point to a wider line as shown with medium to heavier pressure.

The Paper is from a Rhodia Dotpad No. 16, The inks are Waterman South Sea Blue, & Diamine Monaco Red. the writing sample was made by actually filling the pen with ink and writing with it, the writing sample will be included with the pen.
