White Oak - White Oak comes from the eastern United States. Strong, beautiful, rot-resistant, easy-to-work, and economical, White Oak represents an exceptional value to woodworkers. It's pretty clear why this is a widely used wood in cabinetry and furniture making! White Oak is the state tree of Connecticut, Illinois, and Maryland. On The 50 State Quarters Program rolled by the US Mint in 1999, Connecticut's state quarter was minted with a picture and inscription of a famous White Oak tree, The Charter Oak.
White Oak Burl - White oak is a strong, beautiful wood from the eastern United States that is valued by woodworkers. White oak has a very lovely and distinctive burl that I haven't seen very often. The burl combines the coloring of the heartwood (light to medium brown) with that of the sapwood (white to light brown) in some stunning figuring!

Purchase #2 - I've also bought his work at the Renwick Gallery @ the Smithsonian
I received my bowl in the mail today, I'm blown away! The picture did not do this piece justice. David has a gift! His work just leaves me wanting more!! I'm honored to have I think its six bowls now. I'm sure you'll be seeing more orders from me in the future!
Great service. I just got my bowls just a few minutes ago and they are fantastic. I wish all kickstarter programs were as efficient as yours!! Again many thanks and looking forward to the next campaign
All bowls safely received across the pond. They are every bit as beautiful as I hoped they would be!
The bowl is stunning. Thank You!!!!!!!
Got my bowl today. Beautiful craftsmanship! Thanks David!
Received the redwood bowl last Wednesday and what a pleasant surprise it was. An exquisite piece of craftsmanship.
I received my spalted maple bowl a while back--it's gorgeous! One of my favorite woods.
I've seen a lot of local woodwork bowls, but none as beautiful as this. I think it's really interesting how you turn the wood into something almost completely different. It almost looks like marble. I love how the bowls are both rustic but also so posh. It's fine art!

About the Bowl Lines (Tool, Rustic, Gallery/G+)
"Tool finish" means that the surface of the bowl retains the marks of the carving tools left by the maker. Depending on the maker's skill, tool marks can be either crude or refined. Before the use of sandpaper, every handmade wooden object had a tool finish, which directly reflects the hand and artistry of the maker. Most old antiques have tool finishes, increasing their value to collectors.
Like tool finish bowls, "Rustic finish" bowls may retain some tool marks but will be smoother to the touch because they go through a few rounds of sanding. One application of blended finish is applied, and then the bowl is buffed to give it a little shine.
"G+ finish" is of the highest quality in sanding and polish. The wood is sanded until it is smooth as silk to the touch. G+ finished bowls go through multiple applications of blended finish before returning to the lathe for a 2-step buffing process. These extra steps allows the finish to achieve a high-gloss shine, showcasing the wood it protects.
