Art Nouveau antique Ceiling Light Shade.

A recent estate find, this is a Art Nouveau Ceiling Light Shade made of a medium thickness translucent White Glass, with Handpainted Blue Flower (Cornflower we believe) floral motif on all 4 sides of the exterior. Surrounding the floral artwork are areas painted shades of violet. The violet areas are generally lighter nearest the ceiling, and darker at the bottom of the shade.

The sides measure 6-7/8 inches wide at the widest point which is nearest the ceiling, then taper down substantially at the bottom of the shade. A circular lip opening measuring 4 inches O.D. (Outside Diameter) is found at the top of the shade. This is where the shade would mount to a ceiling fixture, and screws in the fixture would secure the shade by fitting in the groove that is below the 4 inch O.D. lip. The height of the shade is 9-3/4 inches, measured from the top of the lip to the bottom of the fixture.

The shade weighs 3 pounds 2 ounces. We did not find any manufacturer markings on it.

Condition: Very good. There are some rough spots on the 4 inch O.D. lip, but without any sharp edges, and hidden when installed. The visible areas of the shade are free of any chips, cracks, or repairs. The paint shows some wear, and some dark areas, possibly dirt that didn't come off when we wiped it down with a lightly moistened paper towel prior to taking pictures. You may be able to clean further with more aggressive cleaning fluids, but we wanted to be careful with the paint. The paint overall seems about 90% intact or better. The interior has a few spots of dirt, but overall is substantially clean and won't require much additional attention. This should be a charming piece when illuminated. All pictures show the actual shade you will receive, and the views of the sides include all 4 sides.
