The CX508 is an excellent microphone, with very good sound quality, optimized for picking up instruments.

It is designed specifically for wind instruments and accordion, and uses a recipe initiated by the micromic AKG: a strong and efficient clamp fixes the microphone on the instrument, the bass strap of the accordion for example, or the horn of the trumpet, sax or Bombarde .

I have tried it (like its little brother the CX-506) for recording violins, with excellent results. The gooseneck allows you to attach the microphone to the chin bar and pick up the sound above the bridge. (the CX-506 is rather fixed on the tailpiece, which can restrict the sound). Very good sound also during the sound recording of a hurdy-gurdy, the clamp attaches to the tailpiece and the sound is picked up above the bridge, more on the side of the drones than the dog.

I tried the CX-508 for the sound of a Bombarde , with very good results, but for practical and aesthetic reasons, I would tend to prefer the CX 506 this time ...

Both the clamp and the microphone are robust, and there is no risk of breakage of the mechanical fixing parts. The microphone is on a long gooseneck, allows sound to be picked up at the ideal location to optimize the signal / noise ratio and avoid the feedback effect.

The microphone is isolated from vibrations by a flexible suspension (near the microphone head) and by a rubberized clamp (which also protects the attachment point, and prevents the clamp from slipping).

The microphone can be moved quickly, allowing you to use a microphone on two instruments, for example an alto sax and a tenor sax, a trumpet and a bugle: the change from one instrument to another is very fast.

This microphone requires a JTS PS-500 external power supply or a JTSShure . It will not work without this power.

I suggest you in my ebay store complementary microphones: the CX516 which allows the resumption of accordions on the melody side, by attaching to the top of the instrument, the CX506 with a mini gooseneck ... I couple the shipping costs!
