Acacia acuminata - Raspberry Jam Wattle Narrow Form

Acacia acuminata, commonly known as the Raspberry Jam Wattle, is a tall shrub or small tree that is found naturally growing in Western Australia.

In ideal conditions it may grow to a height of 10m, but in general distribution it only reaches about 5m.

The narrow phyllode variety is common in the northern, central and eastern wheatbelt and extending slightly into the adjacent Arid Zone, ranging from near Morawa to Balladonia; outlier populations near Ravensthorpe.

Phyllodes linear, apices curved-acuminate, 7–14 cm long, (1.5–) 2–4 mm wide.

The pods are light brown and flattened.

The common name "Raspberry Jam" refers to the strong odour of freshly cut wood, which resembles raspberry jam.

Acacia acuminata has high frost tolerance and medium salt tolerance and requires an annual rainfall of at least 250mm .
