ANTIQUE PAIR OF SAUCERS JAPANESE SATSUMA MORIAGE PORCELAIN WITH 

KANNON & IMMORTALS MARKED  

 

Offered is an exquisite pair of antique Japanese Satsuma Moriage porcelain saucers. Very elegant with

fine detailed lines decorated with Kannon the Goddess of Mercy surrounded by the Immortals. The circle 

with a cross on the edge is the family crest of the Shimazu family, a powerful warrior clan that controlled 

Satsuma province from the 12th to the 19th century. It is accented with 24K gold trim and the raised poly-

chrome design is made of vibrant cobalt and light blue, dark brown, green and pale red. The elaborate 

moriage (bead work) is characteristic of 1920's Japanese Satsuma. The back stamp of the manufacturer 

is pictured separately. These are splendid items, ideal for an impressive gift or a first-class home decoration. 

Size of each saucer is 14 cm (5.5 in.) in diameter X 2 cm (0.8 in.) deep. They weigh together 179 g (6.3 oz.). 

Excellent vintage condition and the colors are bright and sharp. The saucers pictured are the ones you will
