Sweet Dreams – Lavender, Ylang Ylang & Camomile

Nearly half of us are getting just six hours sleep or less a night. And an alarming four out of five people complain of disturbed or inadequate – or ‘toxic’ – sleep. Our Sweet Dreams Oil contains three essential oils which are proven to help relax and quieten your brain, finally getting a good night’s sleep.

Lavender - Lavender has been shown to decrease heart rate and blood pressure, putting you in a more relaxed state. In one study, researchers monitored the brain waves of subjects at night and found that those who sniffed lavender before bed had more deep sleep and felt more vigorous in the morning. Researchers found that lavender increased slow-wave sleep, the very deep slumber in which the heartbeat slows and muscles relax. During this phase, the brain is thought to organise memory, as well.

Ylang Ylang - Springing from the branches of the Cananga tree, native to Indonesia, ylang-ylang flowers produce an oil that is effective in reducing hypertension because of its sedative effects. Not only can it help you fall asleep faster, but a little aromatherapy with this oil can also alleviate stress and anxiety. On top of that, ylang-ylang also has a gorgeous scent, a light floral aroma that works wonderfully as a perfume or natural air freshener.

Camomile - Camomile is a popular choice to treat insomnia. This is an ancient herb that contains therapeutic properties that act as a sedative and help to relax the mind and body. Roman camomile essential oil is recommended for the treatment of stress, insomnia, and nervous tension, which will all help you prepare to fall asleep. Roman camomile has a sweet and comforting scent that can be used as an effective sleep aid. Research also reports that Roman chamomile can help treat hysteria and lessen the frequency of nightmares.

Immunity – Lemon, Peppermint & Tea Tree

Aromatherapy is an incredible healing art and science, supporting and enhancing immunity and mind-body wellness. At the core of aromatherapy are essential oils, which are extracted from different parts of plants and abundant in healing properties.

Various essential oils support the immune system by soothing the nervous system and reducing stress. Use the following essential oils and recipes to help enhance your immunity and strengthen your respiratory system for the season. Our Immunity oil contains three key essential oils to help boost your immunity.

Lemon - lemon has been used throughout history to protect against immune threats. It Promotes health, healing and energy, and has strong antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. Lemon oil works primarily with the digestive, immune, and respiratory systems, promoting healthy function in the body. Aromatically, it's invigorating and is also one of the most popular essential oils.

Peppermint Peppermint oil contains many powerful properties that can help bolster and fortify a person’s immune system, such as antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral agents.

These properties are especially beneficial to those with a weak immune system or are just getting over an illness. Peppermint oil also contains carvacrol, menthol, and camphor, which helps protect you from such nasty viruses as E. coli, salmonella, and even staph infections.

Peppermint essential oil is an excellent oil to start using at the onset of a cold or flu especially when you start getting a scratchy sore throat. Peppermint essential oil is also an amazing oil for stomach and abdominal upset. You can also use peppermint essential oil for controlling fevers.

Tea Tree - Tea tree oil is very important in the health of the immune system, as it acts as an immuno-stimulant and increases the body's ability to fight off any infections, while it also is used to revive the mind and body after shock.

Tea Tree essential oil has a warm, fresh and spicy aroma. A wonderful antiseptic essential oil which can help maintain a healthy and balanced immune system. Deeply cleansing and antibacterial and is useful in inhalations to clear the head and in body skincare blends for problem skin.

Breathe Easy – Eucalyptus, Scots Pine & Rosemary

Sinus congestion is uncomfortable to say the least. It may make it difficult for you to breathe or sleep. It may also cause painful pressure behind your eyes, make your nose run constantly, or cause an annoying cough. Some essential oils may clear up nasal passages and relieve sinus pressure and other congestion symptoms.

Using essential oils for colds and flu relief is a potent and effective, all-natural treatment and an excellent way of alleviating your symptoms. Our Breathe Easy Oil blend contains three of the most effective essential oils to help de congest.

Eucalyptus - The benefits of Eucalyptus oil have historically been harnessed to ease congestion, treat coughs, relieve allergies, and improve respiratory health.

Inhaling eucalyptus essential oil has been noted to improve breathing in patients with inflamed nasal cavities or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Nicknamed the ‘breathe easy essential oil’ eucalyptus essential oil is an effective decongestant.

Scots Pine - Scots pine essential oil offers up breathing space for the lungs, to disinfecting the air, to clearing space in the mind-body, thus allowing for relaxation and regeneration.

Scots pine essential oil has an affinity to: The lymphatic system (decongesting), musculoskeletal system (warming, muscle & joint aches and pains), respiratory system (cleansing, expands the breath, decongesting & expectorating: excellent for wet, drippy conditions) and the nervous system (HPG (hypothalamus/pituitary/gonad) and adrenals (tonic, calming, clearing, fortifying, energising).

Rosemary - Extracted from fresh and fragrant rosemary leaves of the herb rosemary, rosemary oil relieves respiratory disorders, expels excess phlegm and mucus as well as clears sinuses and nasal congestion.

Feel Good - Lime, Bergamot & Ylang Ylang

In clinical trials, essential oils have been proven to elevate mood. You may be wondering how essential oils work. Because smells are carried directly to the brain, they serve as emotional triggers. The limbic system evaluates the sensory stimuli, registering pleasure, pain, danger or safety. This then creates and ultimately directs our emotional response, which can include feelings of fear, anger, depression and attraction.

Our basic emotions and hormonal balance are in response to the most basic smells. This makes scents very powerful in our day-to-day lives because they’re a direct pathway to memory and emotion — which is why they can fight depression, anxiety and ultimately boost our mood. Our Feel Good oil blend contains a unique blend of the three best essential oils used to help boost our mood.

Lime – Emotionally, it's said to enliven a person's appetite for life and playfulness. It helps a person get out from under stagnant energies - including grief, despair, apathy, and more - and regain their courage to embrace their zest for the goodness Life offers. It's an oil that couples well with the heart centre, in my experience, clearing trapped emotions and allowing a person to open up again.

In these ways it may be useful for someone dealing with low vibrational emotions, fatigue, overwhelm, or a heavy heart, and stimulate a person's personal drive in fun, healthy, and heart-focused ways. It's one of the most invigorating and uplifting aromas, without being overly powerful.

Bergamot – Bergamot oil is a great antidepressant because it’s very stimulating. Bergamot can create a feeling of joy, freshness and energy by improving the circulation of your blood. It’s also shown the ability to work as a natural remedy for anxiety.

Ylang Ylang - Ylang Ylang may have a funny name, but it has amazing benefits for helping stave off depression and negative emotions associated with depression. Inhaling ylang ylang can have immediate, positive effects on your mood and act like a mild, remedy for depression. Research shows it can help release negative emotions such as anger, low self-esteem and even jealousy! Ylang ylang works because of its mild sedative effects, which can lower stress responses helping you relax.

Focus - Frankincense, Peppermint & Rosemary

Certain essential oils have an instant effect on brain activity, which has been demonstrated by monitoring brain activity via electroencephalograms. Most of the work conducted in this area has been in relation to the relaxing / balancing nature of sedatives essential oils.

When brain fog strikes, when you're feeling tired and simply can't concentrate, why not try grabbing this bottle of essential oil instead of that next cup of coffee! The additional bonus with the stimulant effects of course, is that not only will they improve energy and focus, but they will also have an uplifting effect on your mood and emotions too!

This Focus blend contains the three top stimulant essential oils to help you regain your focus and concentration.

Frankincense – Not only does frankincense calm your mind and give you the peace that you need to focus on a task, it also has a number of other health benefits. For example, Frankincense is an immune system booster; it helps to combat other health problems by doing so. Frankincense also has the unique attribute of actually helping to increase or support brainpower, which can also help with focus.

Peppermint – "The Washington Post" reported in 2007 that more and more schools are encouraging students to eat peppermint candy to boost test scores Research shows that peppermint stimulates the brain by improving memory and increasing alertness while helping it relax. Your body breaks down sugar to glucose -- the main fuel source for your brain.

A study published in the 2008 “International Journal of Neuroscience” found that participants exposed to peppermint oil experienced enhanced memory and processing speeds. Peppermint also increased their alertness while helping them maintain a sense of calm. In 2006, Dr. Bryan Raudenbush from Wheeling Jesuit University found that drivers exposed to peppermint scent were less frustrated, anxious and fatigued and stayed more alert after driving for prolonged periods.

Rosemary - One of the main ways it helps and acts to improve your ability to focus is as a stimulant. This effect has your energy levels picking up and your mind becoming sharper with your increased energy levels. As the blood flows through your brain, taking more oxygen with it too, your neurological functions pick up and improve.

Whilst this boost to energy levels is good if left unchecked it could spiral off in other directions, especially if you had a nervous disposition. Though there is another property of Rosemary that comes into action here to help you remain in a good frame of mind.

Rosemary also has a nervine action, which calms and soothes the nerves. So even as your energy levels boost up, they can be channelled into the right mental space you wish, keeping you in a positive frame of mind and giving you the energy you need to focus better and concentrate better where you wish to.

Muscle Soothe – Camphor, Black Pepper & Lavender

Many different muscle relaxers are on the market. However, the vast majority contain potentially damaging chemicals. For those who suffer from muscle spasms or overexerted muscles not many natural options are available. But one good alternative treatment is using essential oils.

Essential oils are oils that have a strong scent and have been distilled from natural plant compounds. The oils have high concentrations of antioxidants. They have been found to work by increasing the amount of oxygen that gets to cells and by cleaning out the lymphatic system. Essential oils work as natural pain relievers by penetrating the skin and being carried to muscles in the body through the bloodstream and by being deposited directly to tissues.

Our Muscle Soothe oil blend contains three incredible essential oils used to help release tension and soothe muscles.

Camphor –  A detoxifier and a stimulant for the circulatory system, camphor oil excites blood circulation and gives relief to rheumatic diseases, arthritis, and gout. It is also considered an antiphlogistic, that is, it reduces the swelling of body parts. This is yet another beneficial effect of proper blood circulation. Camphor also has excellent antispasmodic properties meaning that it can also help relieve cramps and spasms in the muscles.

Black Pepper – Because of its warming, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties, black pepper oil works to reduce muscle injuries, tendonitis, and symptoms of arthritis and rhematism.

A 2014 study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine assessed the efficacy of aromatic essential oils on neck pain. When patients applied a cream containing black pepper essential oil to the neck daily for a four-week period, the group reported improved pain tolerance and significant improvement of neck pain.

The analgesic effect of Black Pepper has been demonstrated widely. A three week small scale case study in America relating to the use of Black Pepper on patients with arthritic hands demonstrated a 23% decrease in pain. The study also demonstrated a 21% decrease in stiffness, 18% improvement in dexterity and a 13% increase in strength.

Lavender - Lavender is an all around therapeutic oil. I’m sure you already know how good this stuff is! Lavender’s wealth of therapeutic actions mean it’s a great fit for anti-inflammatory, calming, and parasympathetic inducing purposes. The anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties contained within lavender oil are beneficial to use on aching muscles. Lavender will also ease swelling and improve blood circulation.

Energising – Peppermint, Grapefruit & Lime

Do you find it hard to get out of bed every morning? Are there times in your day that your energy just seems to lag. If you find yourself reaching out for your second, or third cup of coffee and it's barely mid-afternoon, try reaching for an essential oil this time.

Essential oils can help invigorate your senses, and make you feel revitalized and energetic, leading to greater productivity. Used for thousands of years, essential oils are prized for their medicinal properties and pack a powerful punch in a small bottle! Only a few drops of these natural, potent aromatic compounds obtained from the flowers, leaves, seeds and bark of plants, can jolt you back on your feet when you're feeling depleted.

Our Energising oil blend contains three incredible essential oils used to help invigorate and energise you.

Peppermint–  Peppermint essential oil is an all-rounder when it comes to medicinal properties. It's active ingredient and high concentration of menthol contribute it to being a natural antibacterial, analgesic (pain reliever), antiviral and anti-fungal. Its strong, invigorating minty aroma makes it excellent for boosting both mental and physical vitality. It has not only shown to positively improve exercise performance but it can also help improve concentration and fight fatigue caused by overeating and sluggish digestion.

Grapefruit – With a tart, sparkling, clarifying scent, grapefruit essential oil is an excellent stress buster and is very beneficial in reducing mental fatigue. In fact most citrus oils like grapefruit essential oil are clinically, proven to normalise "neuroendocrine hormone levels and immune function," and were found to be "more effective than antidepressants."

Lime -  Lime oil is perfect to give you the kick you need, without being too overly powerful. According to Chinese Medicine, lime oil is known to promote energy flow in the body. It works really well for helping you to re-focus and concentrate after working or studying for long hours.

Relax & Unwind – Lavender, Bergamot & Lemongrass

Essential Oils in Aromatherapy are used for naturally treating many health conditions. Extracted from plants, they have been used for centuries as pain relievers, immune booster, and for relaxation. The brain is the seat of the limbic system responsible for controlling emotions, including the symptoms of stress. The aroma of essential oils affects this area and helps the system give positive emotional responses to stress.

Our Relax & Unwind oil blend contains three incredible essential oils used to help you to switch off, relax & unwind.

Lavender–  Regarded as ‘the universal oil’ due its efficacy in treating many health conditions, Lavender oil is an excellent oil for relaxation. It has an earthy, sweet and fresh floral scent, which has a calming and soothing effect on the body. Lavender oil also has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antidepressant and sedative properties that relieve a headache and pain, helps with insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, mental clarity, and nervousness. Studies have shown that using Lavender oil helps boost the body’s immunity and cell regeneration.

Lemongrass – The calming and mild smell of lemongrass oil is known to relieve anxiety, irritability, and insomnia. The sedative and hypnotic properties of lemongrass oil can help to improve the duration and quality of sleep.

The scent of lemongrass also has an effect to the human senses.  It helps you calm down and relieves your stress and even insomnia.

Anxiety – Lavender, Bergamot & Ylang Ylang

Aromatherapy is the practice of inhaling the scent of essential oils to improve your well-being. One theory of how they work is that by stimulating the smell receptors in your nose, they can send messages to your nervous system. They are also thought to have a subtle effect on the body’s chemical and energy systems. Because of this, aromatherapy is often used as a natural remedy to relieve anxiety and stress.

Our Anxiety Essential Oil contains three essential oils which are used to help relieve anxiety and stress.

Lavender - Lavender oil is said to soothe headaches, migraines and motion sickness when applied to the temples. It is frequently used as an aid to sleep and relaxation.

Lemon The health benefits of lemon oil include its ability to treat skin disorders, hair conditions, stress disorders, fever, infections, asthma, obesity, insomnia, stomach problems, and fatigue. All these benefits of lemon oil can be attributed to its stimulating, calming, anti-infection, astringent, detoxifying, disinfectant, sleep-inducing, and anti-fungal properties.
