BBB CHURCHWARDEN | 138 FABRIS [300] | |
This remarkable 11-inch long BBB from about 1900 has an oversized bulldog bowl and a super-long and robust diamond mouthpiece. The two join by means of a threaded bone tenon. The chamber of this antique appears to have had very few smokes enjoyed in it; the mouthpiece is as glossy and unmarred as it was when it was new. A rare treasure for your collection We are honored to offer this important specimen from the pipe collection of John Fabris of California. Over many decades John meticulously assembled prime examples of the pipemaker's craft, with a focus on English pipes from the early 20th century and the late 19th century– especially unsmoked pipes. For years John's' display table at the Chicagoland International Pipe and Tobacco Exposition has displayed by far the richest trove of estate pipes at the event. The CPCC bestowed on Mr. Fabris the Best Briar Collection award in 2008, and in 2009 they presented him with the Director's Award for his Educational Exhibit display at that year's show. His pipes have been featured in books about pipe history, and he has shared his knowledge with collectors around the world. Watch future Second Hand Smokes listings for many more John Fabris pipes to come. |
