I will try to list the types of Hatchimals Colleggtibles that I see in the designs (I could be wrong in some of the names - if so sorry- I'm trying my best) my five year old is the expert opinion for these names. From what I can see of the different hatchimal figures there is a penguala, a zebrush, a duckle, a platypiper, and the crab one (don't know it's name, tiger, or tigrette, the beebull, a draggle, the armadillo one called armidiller, the goat one don't know his name And a foxfin, one that says I love hatchimals, a few sealed eggs scattered amongst the critters and a few cracked eggs too. Now there are probably more than those but those are the names I know.

Hatchimals

Hatchimals is a line of robotic toys produced by Spin Master.

Development

Development of Hatchimals began in 2014. Spin Master's head of robotics James Martin explained that his team was influenced by the popularity of unboxing videos on YouTube, and envisioned a concept for a toy that could unbox itself. This idea evolved into a concept for a robotic animal that would hatch itself from an egg, necessitating the design of a mechanism for the hatching, and a material for the egg itself. Hatchimals was officially launched on October 7, 2016, backed by advertising on television and digital platforms, such as social networking services.

Demand

Demand for Hatchimals has been extremely high, which have led to them being designated as the "hottest" toy of the 2016 Christmas shopping season; in late-October 2016, Hatchimals occupied multiple spots on NPD Group's top ten list of best-selling toys in the United States, including first, second, sixth, and ninth place. The firm compared the phenomenon to those surrounding Cabbage Patch Kids and Tickle Me Elmo. The New York Times and The Globe and Maildocumented the organization of raffles and waiting lists for the toys, and sellers on websites and eBay selling Hatchimals at over three times their suggested retail price of US$60, if not higher.

Spin Master was caught off-guard by the unexpected demand; the company originally stated that the toy would appeal primarily to girls aged 6 to 8, but Hatchimals ultimately became popular among boys and older youth audiences as well. The company attempted to address the supply issues by having its remaining stock from China delivered via air freight instead of by ship, but stated that there may not be new stock of Hatchimals until 2017. However, Martin added that the company planned to introduce new species and features to the Hatchimals line, and asked customers to be patient. A California mother sued Spin Master for an egg not hatching because the Hatchimal's batteries were dead.

Following on from the success of the traditional Hatchimals toy late last year, which quickly became top of most children’s 2016’s Christmas wishlist, Spinmaster has since launched a range of new collectible characters, all of whom come in their very own miniature hatchable egg. Unlike the original Hatchimal which was quite an investment at around $85, the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles start at just $6 – something I am sure will make a lot of parents breath a huge sigh of relief!!

If they haven’t already done so, your children will soon be asking for some of these on their birthday or treat list – here’s everything you need to know about them!

Hatchimals CollEGGtibles are small, cute, loveable creatures with glittery wings that live inside the magical world of Hatchtopia – a world full of exciting hangouts such as Cloud Cove, Polar Paradise and Friendship Farm.

There are 70 Hatchimals CollEGGtibles in Season 1 Each Hatchimal CollEGGtible comes in its very own egg, which similarly to the original Hatchimal toy, needs a child’s love and affection to hatch.

Children will love trying to collect them all, ticking off the CollEGGtibles from the Collector’s list and trading their surplus eggs with their friends.

Hatchimals CollEGGtibles come in their very own individual blind bag or in multipacks. You can get one egg for $3.75, a 2 pack with a nest for $5.99 or a pack of 4 with bonus character for $10.95. If your children are anything like my daughter, a blind bag alone is enough to get her excited. She would happily sit and watch videos of other children opening blind bags on YouTube all day if I would let her

These blind bags however are a little bit special in that once you’ve opened the bag, you have yet another surprise to come in the hatching of your egg!

When you open up your blind bag, you will reveal your CollEGGtible egg inside – each egg has different coloured speckles depending on which family of CollEGGtibles it belongs to. Each family has between 2 and 8 different characters to collect and pictures of all the characters can be seen on the Collector’s List. They are super cute, and include what look like different animals, such as dolphins, pandas, and bunnies.

Some are common, some are rare, and if you are really lucky, some are ultra rare or limited edition. This is where the trading part gets fun – if your child has already got all characters in a family, they can see immediately from the speckles and trade the unhatched egg with a friend, helping prevent duplicates and get them closer to hatching them all.

To hatch your CollEGGtible you simply rub gently on the purple heart on the front of the egg.

After a bit of rubbing, stroking and patting, the heart will change to pink, at which point, it is ready to hatch. Unlike the original Hatchimal, the process is not electronic and can be done by hand. The color change is done by the heat of your hand

Once pink, you simply press down on the egg just above the heart to pop it open and reveal the character inside. You can check out your Collector’s List, discover it’s rarity, and tick it off, before visiting the Hatchimals website to learn more about his personality!

Once it has hatched, you can peel down the top part of the shell to create a little nest for your CollEGGtible to sit. Children will love stacking them on display, and using their imagination to create their own Hatchtopia.

We (being myself and my daughter) have hatched many of these by now and I have to say they are a very clever and totally adorable idea and nice spin to the blind bag craze of the day. They are very creative marketing and have some super adorable ideas and add one and accessories to go with them like the hatchery play-set which is a creative way of hatching the eggs through the trunk of a tree and turning a hand crank and a couple other play sets calls hatchy hangouts. They are fun craft projects put together by thick foam core cardboard with gorgeous graphics and die cuts into shapes like trees and stages and lemonade stands. One is called the Fabula forest hatchy hangout and the other is called citrus coast hangout. With trees made from citrus slices instead of palm fronds. All in all spinnaster has really done a great job with the marketing and the creative packaging of adorable and tiny little critters that are magical and glittery and highly collectible.

The Hatchimals CollEGGtibles have now become a HUGE hit with young children, who will love the double surprise element and the fact they can compare with their friends and try to collect them all. I love that these are a more affordable Hatchimal, making them much more accessible to children as a small gift rather than a big investment.

There is even a hatchimals app now that you can download on an iPhone or android or probably any cellphone as long as it is a smartphone and it is really adorable and fun for kids for sure but even adults to play.

If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

I will be putting up lots of my baby's and little girls clothes, shoes and toys that she can't wear or use anymore. Since I am trying to sell off so much baby stuff from my daughters closet, please just let me know if you are looking for anything in particular and I may even just be able to hook you up with a good deal. Ultimately I am just looking to get rid of stuff and make a few bucks at the same time.
