Superb pop-art stone litho poster on linen. Starring Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. This British movie was released in the UK in 1935 and premiered in Madrid, Spain in Jan 1936. Based on the markings it appears this was from the Madrid premiere in 1936 before its general release in Spain a couple of months later.The Spanish movie title was 39 Escalones.

The artwork for this poster is very rare and the leading US auction house had never seen either this poster or the UK poster which generally shared the same artwork.

Anything for this 1935 title is rare and US one sheets which have generally uninteresting artwork typically sell at auction for $30-40,000.
