Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic, old time example of spessartine garnet with quartz and galena from Broken Hill!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of
sharp, lustrous spessartine garnet crystals on a characteristic matrix of massive quartz and galena!!! The sharp, lustrous crystals range in size
up to 2.4cm!!! Despite a few missing crystals, this specimen is overall in terrific condition and displays gorgeously in person!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Dr. A. Lincoln Sherk II (1896-1970)!!! In addition to many impressive worldwide specimens and
subcollections, Dr. Sherk's collection contained an impressive suite of historic Delaware County specimens!!! Dr. A. Lincoln Sherk was a
noted Philadelphia area physician and friends with other notables Sam Gordon, Toothaker, and Foote among others!!! Dr. A. Lincoln Sherk,
along with his wife, acquired an impressive collection and even created a small but significant private museum in their basement!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
