NATIONAL ROLL OF THE GREAT WAR LONDON SECTION I CD ROM

Here we have this publication entitled The National Roll of the Great War 1914-1918 LONDON Section I on CD Rom covering LONDON (parts of, see list for coverage) PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE AREAS COVERED IN SECTION I ALSO APPEAR IN SECTION II & SECTION III, BUT THE SERVICEMEN ARE NOT THE SAME ONES)

It was produced circa 1920 by the National Publishing Company, it was the companies initial intention too produce these Rolls of Honour to cover the whole country.

However they went into liquidation not so long after they began to produce them, a total of fourteen areas were produced before the companies decline.

They are set out alphabetically by surname, they contain a variety of details about each serviceman, including medals awarded.

They also contain an address for each entry, this would be the address of either the serviceman himself or his next of kin.

JOHNS T.F.W. PRIVATE17TH ROYAL FUSILIERS
He joined in May 1916 and after his training was sent to France during the battle of the Somme later in the same year.  While in action at Beaumont Hamel in November 1916 he was severely wounded.  After hospital treatment in France and England he was discharged in September 1917 as medically unfit for further service in consequence of his wounds.

He holds the General Service and Victory Medals.
