A beautiful well made antique fine silver wire Japanese cloisonné vase from the Meiji era (1868 - 1912).     The vase is in round form with short, narrow neck, flared mouth, and rounded shoulders tapering down to a narrow foot.   The mouth and foot rims, base plate, and throat plate are brass that were made with a gold-gilt finish.

The design is naturalistic and depicts a stand of narcissus plants with flowers and smaller red chrysanthemum flowers near the ground.  The reverse has a single narcissus plant in bloom.   There are detailed arabesque borders at the top and bottom done in the manner of Hayashi Kodenji.  The designs are rendered in fine, fine silver wire with beautiful shading of the enamels with very precise workmanship.  Note the fine silver wires used in the narcissus leaves and the small chrysanthemum leaves defining every vein.  The narcissus plant on the reverse even has veins in the small stipules (the parts of the flower structure at the base of the stem that appear as tiny leaves.

The vase is 5" tall.  Unsigned.     Excellent condition.   Stand not included.   Ask all questions before bidding.
