The complete work of Charlotte Perriand is divided into four volumes. The second volume of the complete works of Charlotte Perriand covers the years of war and reconstruction of 1940 - 1955. Invited in 1940 by the Japanese government as an advisor to guide production in the field of housing equipment, Charlotte Perriand will leave a deep imprint in the history of Japanese design, thanks to its conference and two exhibitions, "Tradition, sélection, création" (1941) and "Proposition d'une synthèse des arts, Le Corbusier, Fernand Léger, Charlotte Perriand" (1955).
Both visits that she makes in Japan reinforce the modernist vision she has developed alongside Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in the 30s and nourish creativity in the following decades. Charlotte Perriand participates in major projects of reconstruction in France and Africa, and collaborates with leading architects of the time, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Paul Nelson, Jean de Mailly, etc.
She also works with "Ateliers Jean Prouvé", was artistic director of the furniture department and designs of furniture, including the famous Mexico and Tunisia libraries and many other iconic models of the 50s.
This book reveals the will of a creative commitment to develop a new "art d'habiter" under the sign of modernity for all and the synthesis of the arts: archithecture, painting and design.
