This hardcover book of 528 color pages with great illustrations presents the work of Charlotte Perriand. Charlotte Perriand is one of the most outstanding figures of 20th century design.
The complete work of Charlotte Perriand is divided into four volumes. The third volume of the complete work of Charlotte Perriand covers the years from 1956 to 1968 In the heart of the "Trente Glorieuses", during which time her status as international designer was confirmed.
As early as 1956, Charlotte Perriand developed a sustained collaboration with the gallery Steph Simon, publisher of her "Nuage" bookcase. She strengthens its links with Air France, in Europe, Japan and Brazil and designs the first open space workspace.
In Geneva, she devoted more than ten years to the renovation of the immense palace of Nations, seat of the United Nations Organisation in Europe, to make it a modern tool serving thousands of diplomats and NGOs.
The book also illustrates her "art of living" through achievements such as the residence of the Ambassador of Japan in Paris, the house Sahara, her chalet in Méribel, her apartment in Rio de Janeiro, or the interior equipment of the Brazilian pavilion at the university campus in Paris with Le Corbusier.
Another country of election of Charlotte Perriand after Japan, Brazil, where she regularly visits from 1959 to 1970, occupies an important place in his universe. She forged links with Lúcio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer and the great figures of the progressive cultural milieu. In 1963, she began a mission on the development of handicrafts in the Nordeste, interrupted by the military coup. Nearly 800 documents, mostly unpublished, trace a dozen years of creation in the fields of furniture, design and architecture of this pioneer of design, and prefigure her work for the resort of Les Arcs in Savoie in the 70s and 80s.
