Sychrov Zamek - Czech Republic

The extensive romantic chateau is usually presented among the most significant monuments of historicizing styles of the 19th century. Standing here originally was a Gothic fortified settlement that was purchased, together with the estate, by knight Lamotte of Frintropp. At the end of the 17th century the Lamotts built a Baroque chateau with the tower and chapel that belonged, from 1820, to the significant French aristocratic family Rohans. In the second half of the 19th century Kamil Rohan had the chateau adapted and extended in the modern at that time pseudo-Gothic style. Since the beginning of the nineties of the 20th century extensive reconstruction has been performed at Sychrov the efforts of which was to return the form to the area from the period of its largest boom, i.e. of the second half of the 19th century. The present-day sightseeing routes include authentic neo-Gothic interiors with stylish wood carvings and valuable art collections of pictures, tin, glass and porcelain. Belonging to the chateau is an extensive English park founded after 1820.
