More than just a catalogue raisonné, this book highlights the singularity of this selective collection and traces the evolution of Cartier's style and techniques from 1847 to the beginning of the 21st century.
Among the countless treasures of the collection, the book features fabulous tiaras and accessories made for the Royal Courts of Europe, India and Russia, masterpieces precursors of the Art Deco style from the early 1910s and incredible jewelry inspired by India, Persia and the Far East. We also find the emblematic jewels with the motifs of panthers, birds, flowers, chimeras, snakes or crocodiles who populate Cartier's fabulous bestiary, result of hundreds of hours of work of the greatest master craftsmen. The last part of the book presents creations acquired recently and realized during the last three decades of the 20th century. Revealed here for the first time, they testify to the permanent invention of a unique jeweler's vocabulary.
