PHOTO 1972 STEAM ROUNDABOUT STONELEIGH PARK A PATRINA WILLIAMS STEAM POWERED MERRY-GO-ROUND WITH PLENTY OF CUSTOMERS AT 10P A RIDE AND A SHOWMAN'S ENGINE WITH LIGHTS IN THE BACKGROUND RIGHT. PART OF THE STEAM FAIR AT THE FIRST TOWN AND COUNTRY SHOW IN 1972. THE TOWN AND COUNTRY WAS INTRODUCED AS AN ANNUAL SHOW OVER THE AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND TO PROVIDE A CHANCE FOR THOSE WHO WERE UNABLE TO GET TO THE ROYAL SHOW (WHICH OCCURRED MON-THU IN JULY) TO ATTEND A SIMILAR EVENT. NEITHER SHOW EXISTS NOW BOTH HAVING BEEN AXED IN THE PAST FEW YEARS. THE ROUNDABOUT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN OBTAINED BY AN AMERICAN THEME PARK BY 1974.
