Zirl Tirol - Austria

This is constructed of either tin or aluminum and is a unused medallion/stocknagel.  This stocknagel is to be mounted on a walking stick with two nails to show the places that they had visited. These are called either pins, mounts, shields, stocknagel, medallions, placckette/scudetti or badges and do the same thing as lapel or hat pins, they tell everyone where you have been and what you have seen.

Zirl is a market town in the district of Innsbruck-Land and is located 10 km west of Innsbruck at the bottom of a pass with the name "Zirler Berg" (Zirl mountain), leading to Seefeld and ultimately to Germany. The location was mentioned in documents in 799 for the first time . Zirl was tortured several times by inundations and fires but nevertheless the population has increased in the last years. The status „Market town“ was received in 1984.

A remarkable sight is its parish church, richly adorned with frescoes.

This is an extremely nice stovknagel. Scan did not do it justice
