AUDIO BOOK – BBC Radio Collection – Alan Bennett reads his own DIARIES 1980-1990.

As the sleeve says….

‘Diaries are like conversations….even if the conversation is with oneself.’

The eighties were a busy time for Alan Bennett, playwright, actor and now diarist. This is not just a diary for theatre lovers, though his insider’s ear on the arts world – Thora Hird and Coral Browne, Denholm Elliott and Maggie Smith – is eccentric and unmissable.

But Bennett’s canvas is broader – a writer’s tour of Russia, life in New York and Camden, filming in Egypt, the Falklands War, Mrs Thatcher and tales of a Yorkshire village.

Bennett’s eye-view of the decade confirms him as one of life’s great observers – clear-eyed, compassionate and funny.

The BBC Radio Collection double cassette is in excellent condition with a playing of almost 2 hours.

It will be sent in secure packaging.
