This diligently hand-knotted area rug contains a blend of 90% pure wool and 10% pure silk. Both piles are natural materials that are hygienic and non-allergenic, representing the healthier choice compared to synthetic fiber rugs. Their natural piles deter the growth of bacteria and dust mites. The rug feels soft under the foot while remaining wear-resistant and long-lasting. With proper maintenance tailored to its needs, this rug can last over 75 years. Its detailing contains silk highlights that are primarily located in the lighter colored sections of its curvilinear patterns (floral designs with curved outlines, tendrils and sprays, sometimes detached, but often connected to one another). The added silk provides sheen, depth and a little taste of luxury. A rug with both wool and silk materials are a great option for adding the look and feel of luxury to your spaces.

The dyes used to produce this carpet are eco-friendly vegetable dyes that enrich the yarn with a natural and vibrant luster. Vegetable dyes are also referred to as natural dyes and are superior to "synthetic" dyes, therefore, this rug is a more valuable carpet than a rug woven with synthetic colors. As a result of utilizing quality materials and highly skilled craftsmanship, it can last generations and adds warmth and elegance to almost any space.

Care & Maintenance: Wool Area Rugs

Since they are essentially a precious art form, beautiful handmade wool carpets require good care in order to maintain their longevity. Preventative maintenance is the best medicine for ensuring the long life of a rug. Below are general guidelines to follow for proper care and maintenance:

• Sweep your rug in one direction from end to end with a straw bristle broom or a carpet sweeper to do the initial cleaning.
• Never sweep or rub your broom back and forth because you could end up damaging your carpet.
• Vacuum your rug on both sides at least once a week to lift debris, dirt and keep it looking new for a longer time.
• Keep your carpet out of direct sunlight to prevent its color from fading over time.
• If your carpet must be placed in direct sunlight, please rotate it every month.
• Move your furniture around occasionally.
• Test to see if your carpet is colorfast before having it washed.

Removing Spills:

• Deal with a spill quickly so it is less likely to stain.
• Do not rub, or you will damage the yarn.
• Do not use salt or white wine on a red wine spill.
• Work from the outside inwards to limit the affected area.
• Use a cleaner designed for wool.
• Work your cleaner in with a brush, sponge or cloth and then rinse.
When you are finished, blot thoroughly and brush the pile in the correct direction.
