Tiny old antique Victorian crocheted miser purse / reticule: 

~ Flat small petite design for easy concealment

~ Hand crocheted with an off white or ecru cotton thread with a tight fine gauge seashell looking pattern

~ Working drawstrings - as you pull on the finger loop - the purse flat moves closed

~ To open you have to manually pull on the front of the pouch to open

~ Your use will be obscured by the very intentional web of strings that cross the opening for the safety of the contents

~ Originally designed to keep money / coins safe and sound

~ This is a rarer primitive utilitarian model without too much adornment - most likely for a garter placement

~ I am guessing this to be mid to late 1800's in age

MARKINGS:  None - this is an old handmade piece

MEASUREMENTS:  Roughly 4 1/4" across x 2 3/4" high, not including the drawstrings or loop - which is another 2 3/4" long - loop has a diameter of about 3/4".  Useable space will be less than the overall outside dimensions listed - suitable for very flat small items such as folded up money or coins, etc.  You need to be able to fit the contents through the strings - and there isn't much room for pass through - they can be separated about an inch to an inch and a half or so to insert contents.  

CONDITION:  Great vintage condition - no damage to mention.   No holes, rips, tears, etc - just some very slight or mild even discoloration one would expect from age and use.  Pull string set up in good working order
