The fourth collaboration between director Howard Hawks and Dimitri Tiomkin, who
was the ideal western score composer according to Hawks. Tiomkin composed a
more subtle score that underlines the emotions of the characters, making it
easier to the public to understand their actions, advancing some of the ideas
that he would later develop in one of his best scores, the unforgettable music
for Rio Bravo.
