Description
Honda CB72 and CB77 Cappellini #100 improved oil filter uses an actual filter element, instead of the sludge trap style from the factory to prevent excess wear throughout the engine due to the dirt and crud in unfiltered oil. Efficient flow filter element would work with the stock pump, but ideal with one of Franco's new higher flow volume pumps. Standard Suzuki filter element is easily obtained from your local dealer or from us. Filter was flow tested using the special test rig shown in the photos. Actual color is silver anodized, not gold. Try to prime the oil system after installation so that you are not pumping air instead of oil, and then check engine oil level after a short period.
One spacer is included to replace the original sprocket behind the filter, as the centrifugal filter spun to try to trap particles, while this new one is stationary and uses the cartridge element for filtration. Please note that both primary covers and their gaskets can vary in thickness. This filter is designed to "float" between the crankcases and the primary cover, up to a distance of about .015", and the oil pressure inside the pump helps keep both the cover and filter o-ring gaskets in place. If your engine-filter-primary case spacing has greater movement than .015", then you can add a universal spacer washer on the crankcase side of the engine, to restore the intended clearances.
One of many fine products race developed over the years in Como, Italy by Franco Cappellini and used by top Honda racers throughout the World.
