INA Alternator Freewheel Clutch

A freewheeling alternator has a clutch between the pulley and the alternator itself, thus when the battery is charged and there is a low electrical load, there is a much lower braking torque on the belt. This increases belt life and reduces engine load from the alternator.

Over time, you may encounter some of the following signs of wear:

- Excessive belt tensioner movement while the engine is running at idle.
- A Buzzing sound coming from the alternator after revving due to worn bearing in the part.
