William H. Stevens (b.1924) (99 if still living)

A claw-footed jewelry box with a wide range of eccentric New Yorkers wearing wild hats! Circa 1980. Crafted from his morning newspaper. Unsigned. Back in the 1980s New York's High-End Art Galleries would add $100s to his works so he chose to sell to the public directly via the city's sidewalks. A piece this size would have had a street value of about $100.00. Stevens used to set up a table in front of the MET where they would constantly harass him and call the police to chase him away. An "Outsider Artist" to be sure! Fun piece from New York's artistic past! Stands about 8 1/2" tall. Shipping will be $4.95 to any U.S. address ($8.00 foreign)
