The National War Memorial which was first erected in
the aftermath of the First World War, stands today as a
tribute to all who have served in the past, present and
future.
The people's willingness to act is expressed in the army
of bronze figures that moves through an archway high
above the granite terrace below.
There is a look of eagerness and sincerity on their faces.
Above them stand Peace and Freedom - the promise of
what will follow after the great sacrifices that would be
made by the people below them.
There are 22 bronze figures in the procession, each
one 2.44 m (8 ft) tall.
