Eczema is a general term for dry and inflamed skin, often caused by atopic dermatitis but also by other conditions.

Atopic dermatitis, allergic dermatitis and contact dermatitis are skin diseases that are accompanied by erythema and severe itching.

Particularly in atopic dermatitis, which is a skin disease that occurs very often in infants, toddlers and children, the itching is particularly intense and persistent, affecting the patient's quality of life.

What really happens to atopic skin, why is there itching and what do we need to do to stop it?

Simply put, in atopic skin, the skin barrier is disturbed, and there is reduced cohesion. This results in the constant transdermal loss of water, which causes the skin to dry out, while at the same time irritating and allergenic agents enter the skin through the "defective" skin barrier.

When the brain perceives "invaders", it activates the itch mechanism (itching). In essence, itching is the weapon that our body has to remove from our skin any substance that it considers dangerous. However, scratching due to itching further irritates the already disturbed epidermal barrier and this leads to a condition known as the "Vibration Itching-Shaving Cycle". So in order to stop the itching, we need to repair the skin barrier.

Skin conditions such as atopic eczema / atopic dermatitis, allergic reactions, very severe dry skin, dermatitis, etc. have in common the disturbed skin barrier and itching, some to a greater extent and others to a lesser extent.

Due to its special composition and mechanism of action, Bepanthol® Sensiderm Eczema restores the epidermal barrier, has been shown to relieve itching within 30 minutes of application, provides constant hydration and enhances skin regeneration.

How to Use

Bepanthol® Sensiderm Eczema is intended to relieve itching and erythema caused by skin irritation in infants, children and adults. These irritations occur in conditions such as atopic dermatitis / eczema, dry skin and allergic skin reactions.

Bepanthol® Sensiderm Eczema can be applied as needed to the affected skin without injury.

Action mechanism

Bepanthol® Sensiderm Eczema provides the skin with lipids similar to those of the stratum corneum. It thus normalizes the structure of the skin's petalloid lipids, improves dryness, and then itching, effectively helping to improve the function of the skin barrier during the treatment of atopic dermatitis. Provitamin B5, or dexpanthenol, after being absorbed by the skin, is converted into a pharmacologically active pantothenic acid, which is essential for the biosynthesis of skin lipids. In this way, the hydration of the stratum corneum increases and the transdermal water loss decreases, with the result that the skin is kept hydrated. Finally, glycerin accumulates throughout the thickness of the stratum corneum, binding and retaining water in it, and thus ensuring long-term hydration.

Bepanthol® Sensiderm Eczema interrupts the vicious itching-scratching cycle and repairs the disturbed skin barrier of the affected skin.
