Early days in Licking County, OH,
including Newark, Granville, Homer, Pataskala, Utica, Herron, Hanover, Hartford, Alexandria, and Johnstown, are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales and factual data in this NEW 46 Page Booklet of excerpts reproduced directly from the 1892 Centennial edition of Henry Howe's Historical Collections of Ohio, the 1940 WPA book The Ohio Guide and other hard-to-find sources. The spiral bound booklet is printed single-sided on quality paper, with the fine print enlarged for easier reading. A sheet of clear vinyl has been added to protect the front cover.

Illustrations include: the Public Square in Newark in 1890, Johnnie Clem, drummer boy of Shiloh, and Denison Baptist University in Granville.

The Howe history covers the development of this area until about 1890, while excerpts from the WPA book, give a nostalgic glimpse from a 1940 vantage point, including interesting historical notes, especially as they relate to sightseeing possibilities. A brief 1933 look at the history of newspapers in the county, short items on Buxton Tavern and Denison College from a 1941 Ohio history, some feature articles from the 1960s, a map showing the 88 Ohio counties and a map of 1805 Ohio are also included.
