Netted Roses is the fabulous design featured on the exterior of this bowl created by the Harry C. Northwood Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia, circa 1906.

It is signed with the Northwood trademark "Underlined N in a circle" on the interior center.

This Victorian-style exterior pattern features a many-petalled rose in the center, six roses alongside six long leaves all in a diamond points mesh.

This pretty green opalescent bowl has a 3-in-1 edge with deep crimps.

Very Brief Background on Northwood & Dugan.Thomas Dugan and his cousin, Harry C. Northwood, started out in the 1880s as employees at the Hobbs-Brockunier Glass firm in Wheeling, West Virginia.  Eventually, Harry would form the Northwood Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia and Thomas would form the Dugan Glass Company of Indiana, Pennsylvania.  Both companies were kingpins of the carnival and opalescent glass market in the early 1900's. Both Northwood and Dugan-Diamond Glass shut down in the mid-1920s.

Condition.  This bowl is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or restorations.

There are, of course, the usual minor straw marks ("shearing tool marks") and internal air bubbles from manufacturing commonly associated with the hand making and hand finishing of old EAPG, carnival, and opalescent glass.

Each and every piece of old carnival and opalescent glass is hand finished which means they are all unique.  No two pieces of old carnival and opalescent glass are identical.

... an absolutely wonderful example of fine Northwood craftsmanship
... not easy to find
... a thoughtful gift for the person who appreciates old glass and would look great alongside any Northwood, Dugan, Jefferson,  Millersburg, Fenton, Westmoreland, Brockwitz, Sowerby, Imperial, or other antique glass from the makers of fine opalescent, carnival glass, and EAPG.
