is a very pretty peach opalescent carnival glass compote with the diamonds and arches interior Folding Fan pattern made by
Dugan Diamond Glass, circa 1915.
Very Brief
Background on Dugan. Thomas
Dugan and his cousin Harry
Northwood started out as employees at the Hobbs-Brockunier firm in
Wheeling,
West Virginia. Eventually, Mr. Northwood would form the Northwood
Glass Company
of Wheeling, West Virginia and Mr. Dugan would form the Dugan Glass
Company
of Indiana, Pennsylvania. Both companies were kingpins of the
carnival
and opalescent glass market in the early 1900's and both would close their doors in the mid 1920s.
Condition.
This compote is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Very nice.
...A really nice example of Thomas Dugan's fine craftsmanship.
