This is a great vintage Johan Me 262 in 1/72 scale from 1973. The kit is in excellent open box condition. Decals and instructions are present and in good shape. The parts are mostly on the sprue and clear parts are present and in good shape. A truly great little kit of an important piece of world aviation history.
The Me262 was Germany and the worlds first operation jet fighter. Many believe this aircraft could, if it had come a bit sooner in the war changed the course of history. Being an American I prefer things the way they turned out but nonetheless this is one amazing aircraft...
The Messerschmitt Me 262, nicknamed Schwalbe (German: "Swallow") in fighter versions, or Sturmvogel (German: "Storm Bird") in fighter-bomber versions.
Design work started before World War II began, but problems with engines, metallurgy and top-level interference kept the aircraft from operational status with the Luftwaffe until mid-1944. The Me 262 was faster and more heavily armed than any Allied fighter, including the British jet-powered Gloster Meteor. One of the most advanced aviation designs in operational use during World War II, the Me 262's roles included light bomber, reconnaissance and experimental night fighter versions.
