1977 PLAYBILL SIGNED in red by RUDOLF NUREYEV. This PLAYBILL is from NUREYEV'S now-legendary, limited engagement at the Uris Theatre in March of 1977. NUREYEV danced with guests from The Royal Danish Ballet and other friends. He danced the part of Pierrot in Arnold Schoenberg's "Pierrot Lunaire" with choreography by Glen Tetley. His second piece was Mahler's "Songs of a Wayfarer" choreographed by Maurice Bejart. In his third and final piece he danced the part of the murderous teacher in "The Lesson" with music by George Delerue and choreography by Bernard Dayde. NUREYEV had danced with the Kirov Ballet until his defection from the Soviet Union in 1961. He is still regarded by many as the greatest dancer of his generation. Since his death in 1993, NUREYEV has in retrospect surpassed "legendary" and become -- for a host of devotees -- almost mythical. This PLAYBILL is in VERY GOOD condition. A number has been penned in unobtrusively at the bottom of the back cover and a date has been added to the bottom of the last page. Otherwise the program is clean and free of markings throughout. All pages are present and intact. PLAYBILL is still crisp and unsoiled with a tight binding. Nureyev has signed boldly in red at the top of the front cover. What a treasure!
