University of Pennsylvania Song c 1953

"The Red and Blue"

"Come all ye loyal classmen now, In hall and campus through, Lift up your hearts and voices for The royal Red and Blue. Fair Harvard has her crimson, Old Yale her colors too, But for Dear Pennsylvania, We wear the Red and Blue!

Hurrah, Hurrah, Pennsylvania, hurrah for the Red and the Blue; Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, hurrah for the Red and the Blue."

Genuine vintage EXTRA LARGE sheet music and lyrics to this historic and rousing Penn song.  Three verses!

Taken directly from an old oversized book published in 1953 of college alma mater and pep songs, this is two beautiful, cream-colored pages lightly tinged with the golden burnish that comes only with the passing years.

Song begins as shown, then concludes on the reverse side of the page.

This original song sheet is over 70 years old, yet looks fabulous ... crisp, clean text, no pencil marks, folds, or stains.

Late 1800's Penn alumni song credits at top: "Words by Harry E. Westervelt, '98. Music by W.J. Goeckel, '96."

Date at bottom: "Copyright 1927 by The Houston Club of The University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa.  Copyright assigned 1936 to The Thornton W. Allen Company, New York.  Copyright assigned 1947 to Broadcast Music Inc., 580 Fifth Ave., New York 19, N.Y."

Each extra-large page is approx. 9" x 12" -- too big for my scanner, I had to take a photo!

What an impressive piece of history for a proud Penn alum!
