This is a custom figure commemorating one of the fiercest Apache warriors and scouts of the old West, Chato. The Apache were very loyal to their friends, devoted to family, and fierce warriors in battle, An Apache could travel 50 miles on foot without stopping and were arguably among the best guerilla fighters in history. The name Apache means enemy. Chato was first cousin to Mangas Coloradas, one of the best known leaders of the Apache people. Chato married a Chokonen Apache woman and swore his loyalty to Cochise. Cochise mentored the young Apache and made him a sub-chief. Chato planned and led many successful raids. He eventually surrendered with Cochise in 1872. Chato would become an Apache scout (later named sergeant of scouts) under General Crook. It was said that the final surrender of Geronimo could not have been accomplished if not for Chato and his Chiricahua scouts. The figure doesn't look exactly like Chato but there is a bit of a resemblance. sold as is. Please note the following-when a figure is a custom figure that means it is not a licensed product,or "official" but something the customizer did by combining figures and accessories from different makers and toy releases to come up with the custom figure or figures. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own. Because I needed to support my new hobby, I started selling some custom figures. My prices reflect my acquisition cost, time involved, and some profit. Thanks for the look, have fun shopping!
