Antique Bleriot Original Photograph.

Subject is of Louis Bleriot a French Engineer the first person to fly from France heading to Dover on July 25th 1909.

There is a Monument on what is now named Bleriot Beach (just outside of Calais) commemorating this brave flight taking off early hours at 4.15am. He was flying a tiny monoplane with a 3 cylinder Anzani motorcycle engine. The flight would take approx 40 minutes, the engine after 30 minutes was always at risk of exploding, hence this brave act.

He landed with a bump in Dover and broke the propellor but walked away unhurt thus proving the statement " Any landing you can walk away from is a Good one".
